Gliders need to have a roomy cage with room to jump and play. Your cage needs to be taller than it is wide, to give them the best gliding space possible.  The minimum size for a glider is 2’x2’x3’ but the bigger the better. The cage needs to be coated with one of the following: powder, PVC, vinyl, or painted glaze. If you get a cage with a pull out tray it also make cleaning easier.  Bar space should be 1/2" x 1/2. We also have a sheet or plastic up on the wall behind the cages and on the floor below. Sugar Gliders like to throw their fruit all over the place and on cleaning days the sheet can be washed in the machine and your wall stays clean.

In your cage you will also need a place for your Sugar Glider to sleep, such as a pouch or a nest box. If using a material pouch, check daily that there are no loose threads for your gliders to get their nails caught in. We do sell a range of sleeping pouches for your gliders. Our own gliders have tested each style.

You will also need a water bottle, a food bowl and toys. Please see our enrichment page, for toy ideas and more information on how to setup your cage, including pictures of our cage setups.
